How To Fall Back Asleep

Greetings,

One of my loyal readers wrote me the other day and she told me she was having problems falling back asleep. Sometimes it was in the middle of the night, and sometimes it was after her husbands alarm went off, he woke up and went to work.

There maybe a couple different things going on here, so I will cover them.

Are you hungry? If so a light snack (couple of crackers and some warm milk) should suffice to squash the small hunger pangs.

Are you to hot, or to cold?  Simply, remove excess covers that make you hot, or maybe throw an extra blanket on if you are to cold.

If neither of the above how about a little easy, light reading. Nothing exciting that will get the heartbeat and blood pressure up. That will defeat the purpose for this exercise. You want something easy to read, and as you read, perhaps you will start to feel your eyes getting tired. They are probably getting a little heavy. At this point, just go ahead, close your book, turn off your reading light, and let your body and mind fall back into a nice deep sleep.

This little reading exercise also works good in the case of the spouse that might get up early and disturb your sleep.

I hope these couple of quick tips finds you dozing back off into a wonderful, peaceful world of sleep.

Sincerely,

Declare Your Independence From Insomnia

A good night’s sleep can make a big difference in how you feel.

We all look forward to a good night’s sleep. Sleep allows our body to rest and to restore its energy levels. Without enough restful sleep, not only can we become grumpy and irritable, but also inattentive and more prone to accidents. Like food and water, adequate sleep is essential to good health and quality of life.

If you have a sleep disorder it can be hard to get a good night’s sleep. Sleep disorders can make it hard to fall asleep or stay asleep during the night and can make you drowsy during the day.

Insomnia is the most common sleep complaint at any age. It affects almost half of adults 60 and older.

If you have insomnia, you may experience any one or any combination of the following symptoms.

* taking a long time — more than 30 to 45 minutes — to fall asleep
* waking up many times each night
* waking up early and being unable to get back to sleep
* waking up feeling tired, and unable to function well during the day

So what can we do about it? How can we declare our independence from insomnia?

There are numerous techniques available to help you fall asleep and stay asleep. One right off the top of my head is you may want to try limiting excessive noise and/or light in your sleep environment.

Relaxation techniques also may be helpful in reducing physical and emotional tensions that can interfere with sleep.

So how can we relax after a long, and maybe stressful day when we feel the weight of the world maybe on our shoulders? Breathe, simple breathing techniques can help you relax and have a better night’s sleep.

Instead of over the counter pills and diet prescriptions look at a natural way to bring sleep back into your system.

Because think of it, when the pills wear off, you are right back at losing sleep. Or worse yet, you could become dependent on those prescription pills, and that could turn fatal.

Here’s something for you to try.

Let me teach you how to fall asleep an all natural way. No pills, no drugs

Our sleep secret audio; which costs less than a monthly supply of  pills or prescriptions, will guide you into a nice, restful sleep, all the while teaching your body, and your mind how to relax.

Soon after listening to our audios, you will be able to put yourself to sleep, anywhere, anytime.

And it is much safer than depending on some pills.

Declare Your Independence From Insomnia!

For a better, much deeper night’s sleep, please visit Sleep Secret Audio and invest in a good night’s sleep. It’s Guaranteed to work!

Do You Know These Sleep Tips When Traveling?

Greetings!

We are coming up on the Official start of summer; Memorial Day weekend!

Before I continue, I must say a GIANT THANK YOU To ALL our Veterans and to those serving this Great country of ours now!

If your going to do any type of traveling, this blog post is for you! Don’t let lack of sleep ruin your well deserved vacation plans!

Did you know that sleep problems tend to be more common when people travel from west to east as it is more difficult to advance than to delay sleep time?

The following suggestions might help you avoid sleep problems when traveling: Several days before traveling, try to gradually adjust your sleeping habits to the destination time zone. Jet lag can occur when people travel quickly across several time zones, causing their internal biological rhythm to be out of synch with the new destination time.

Travel can put a crimp in a good night’s sleep, but the road-weary can try some measures to fight fatigue. There probably aren’t that many of us that would go as far to ensure the we are wearing loose fitting clothes when we travel. (We should) Also, think about what you are wearing before you leave home and when returning home, pack some comfortable clothes at the top of your suitcase, if the clothes you are wearing to the airport aren’t comfortable to sleep/travel in.

When you travel, do you bring your favorite pillow? Sometimes a favorite pillow is kind of like a trusted security blanket. When we travel by car, my daughter loves to bring her favorite pillow. For others, they don’t like the hassle of carrying a big bulky square pillow around with them, especially going through an airport.

I travel light, I don’t even have a travel pillow, but it might be something worth having if your travel consists of some air time.

Above all else, relax, you are on vacation! Become stress free, that’s what we all work so hard for, is to enjoy our vacation time.

Sincerely,

PS… In the rush and stress of travel, it can be easy to forget that children get just as tense about these things as we adults do. Help your child sleep well while traveling, we recommend bringing a copy of “The Sleep Secret Audio” along. Within a few short minutes of slipping the headphones, or earphones in and listening, your children can be fast asleep. Guaranteed.

Loss Of Sleep, A Form Of Starvation?

Good sleep can only be had when one’s bed and bedroom is quiet and comfortable enough to invite sleep into it.

Loss of sleep causes a form of starvation, for the food we eat is digested and transformed into new muscle, brain, blood, and nerve-cells only while we are asleep.

“Sleep recharges the exhausted body batteries and fills the organic furnace with fresh fuel. Sleep is a positive process–not a negative one. It isn’t merely a stopping of bodily activity. It’s a substitution of a constructive process for a destructive one.”

“Only while we are unconscious do we fully recuperate. The deeper the sleep, the quicker the recuperation. The lighter ,and more disturbed the sleep, the more we need of it—the longer it takes to effect repair.”

‘The quality of sleep is everything. An hour’s nap, under favorable condition, is more reconstructive than an entire night’s restless, dream ridden sleep. Many who sleep deep’ are able to do with four or five hours of it—while light sleepers might require twelve or thirteen hours to gain the same degree or recuperation.

Go to sleep when your tired, get up when you are rested. That’s the only proper universal rule. When You are rested you’ll awake. In fact, you
couldn’t sleep any more—just then—even if you wanted to. And, have no fear of injuring your health by oversleeping. No one ever got too much good natural sleep or did his health any harm by staying in bed until he or she felt rested. But if you don’t feel rested, there is a cause for it. Either there is something wrong with your bed, or you’re not getting enough oxygen; meaning your bedroom is stuffy or not ventilated properly; perhaps sleep apnea —or you could be anemic. If  this is the case, please see your Doctor for a physical to get your overall health checked.

Sincerely,

Two Simple Sleep Tips To Defeat Insomnia

Greetings,

Today’s sleep and insomnia information post deals with a couple of simple, but maybe unconventional sleep tips that you might not have thought of.

Seriously though, if you will watch the video, and see what I explain about the clock and the cell phone, I am sure you will agree with me.

One of the worse things in the world is trying to fall asleep, and having the “glow” from your digital alarm clock shining in your eyes. Or if you are experiencing a little tossing and turning while trying to sleep, it’s no fun to look over and keep seeing that only a few minutes have passed on the clock.

Very frustrating.

Now on to the cell phone. I am guilty of this in the past, but have put this bad sleep killer to bed.

TURN YOUR CELL PHONE OFF!!!!

There I said it!

Turn it off in the early evening as you are unwinding, and keep it off.

Even through you maybe be consciously trying to sleep, if you have trained your unconscious mind to always be listening for your cell phone, guess what it’s going to do as you lie down to sleep.

If you feel you must keep it on in case of emergencies, that’s your call, and I won’t argue that one bit.

These are just two suggestions you can add to your arsenal of information to help you improve your sleep.

Hope they help.

Daylight Savings Time, Has It Affected Your Sleep?

Greetings,

Well, it’s been over ten days here in the states now. Is Daylight Savings Time still affecting your sleep?

I admit it, adjusting to it took me an extra day this year. Maybe it’s my age.

Another family member took an extra day or two. But we know the “secret.”

How about you?

When Daylight’s Saving Time goes into effect, the time change does more than make people late for appointments.
It can mess up their whole day by forgetting to adjust the time on their clocks. (I missed a tee time one year.)

Our internal clocks need an adjustment too, and sometimes that takes a little longer.

Because some people have an interruption in their sleeping patterns they resort to pills and drugs.

What if I could show you an all natural way to get your sleep back on track, and in the process “teach” your body and mind how to fall asleep whenever you wanted to. No worries about the long lasting affects of the time changes, or if something from work is bothering you.

Just pretend for a minute what a night of good old fashioned sleep would feel like.

Feels good, doesn’t it.

And what if I told you that this could be at your fingertips, and at the press of a button anytime you’d need it?

Interested?

At Sleep Secret Audio we have mp3 audio downloads that will help you fall asleep, fall fast asleep, and help you stay asleep throughout the whole night.

No pills, no drugs, no harmful side affects.

You can’t overdose on this sleep audio.

Which means you are getting a good solid night’s sleep, and your body, and mind is getting a complete sleep.

So, if you are tired of always being tired because of sleepless nights, check out our sleep audio at Sleep Secret Audio

You’ll notice a new you in the morning.

Please visit and download your copy now, and be sleeping better tonight, and every night.

Tuesday’s Sleep Awareness Week Tip

Welcome to Tuesday,  and your Sleep Awareness Week Tip for today

Ideal Temperature
: When creating a good sleep environment, you need to make sure you minimize any discomfort. Being too cold or too hot can disrupt a comfortable sleep and once disrupted (for a person with a sleep disorder) it may be difficult to get back into a deep slumber.

Keeping the room at a constant, ideal temperature will help you get and stay asleep. While it’s debatable as to what the best temperature is, it can be agreed upon that anything about 75 degrees Fahrenheit is too warm and anything below 54 degrees, too cold.

Try a median between 60–70 degrees (65) as a compromise, but the deciding factor should be you personally and what you find to be “ideal.”  If you keep kicking the covers off or shivering yourself awake, adjust the temperature until it’s just right – and make note of what that number is for you.

Your two for Tuesday Sleep Habit tip is:

Sleep  Habit : Just Say “No” to Stimulants! You might recognize you have trouble sleeping, but don’t even think that 24-ounce Coca Cola you had at 9 PM could be the cause.

Caffeine, as well as other stimulants like electronic gadgets (video games, Television, and the Internet) can all contribute to your sleeplessness.  Avoid products like alcohol, tobacco, chocolate, and sodas during the evening hours – save them for the daytime when you’re telling your body it’s okay to be alert and awake.

That’s all for Sleep Awareness Week Tips for today

Tomorrow is “Hump Day” join us for more tips!

Can Circadian Rhythm Cause Sleep Cycle Disruption?

I want you to take a second and visualize closing your eyes for just a few minutes and gaining all the amazing benefits you get from a full eight hours of sleeping.

This probably perked up your curiosity huh?

You could most likely go clubbing long after the roosters crowed. Or shuffle your time between two high-paying jobs without worrying exactly how many hours of sleep you can get in approximately.

Do you understand what circadian rhythm is? Circadian rhythm is simply our internal 24-hour biological clock. Therefore, the Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorders are those linked to the time of sleep within any 24-hour period. Sometimes these disorders are brought about by instances controllable by the individual like shift work or change in time zones. Some though, are because of other factors like neurological mechanisms.

One very frequent type of the Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorder is the Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome (DSPS). This disorder is characterized by a delay of a person’s sleeping time; insomnia or sleepiness; inability to wake up at a specific time; depression is possibly evident;especially if this has been ongoing for three months.

Since that these affected individuals are considered “owls” or “night people”, they work best and are in their best mood in the later parts of the day. Some have attempted to “remedy” themselves of this disorder and have turned to sleeping pills to induce sleep. However, people have become dependent on the pills, so some experts have suggested meditation techniques.

As a person who has suffered with bouts of insomnia, and one not liking the potential side affects of sleeping pills or drugs, we recommend all natural ways to fall asleep at night.

What are your thoughts? Are prescription drugs like Ambien safe? Please leave me a comment, I’d love to hear from you.

Do You Know Why Your Sleep Journal Is Important?

My good friend Mary McManus aka @gracefullady on Twitter where we met, was talking to me about how important it is for her to get sleep and rest.

Did you know she is a polio and post polio survivor, and a finisher in the Boston Marathon?

Fatigue is the number one symptom which she has to manage. She decided to keep a journal of her fatigue symptoms, ( I Highly recommend you do the same) to see if there was any correlation between the sleep and rest she was getting and the symptoms of fatigue.

Now while this may seem like a no brainer, many people do not pay attention to how they feel throughout the day. It is easy for the ‘tail to wag the dog’. People feel cranky, irritable, fatigued and so they reach for caffeine or chocolate or a quick fix never bothering to take the time to examine the root cause of feeling this way.

Mary began to notice that when she rested when her body said to stop, or took a quick power nap to refresh and when she slept well and for the number of hours she required, she did in fact have more energy throughout the day. She also noticed through keeping her journal that saying yes to a breakfast meeting and having to get up at 5:30 am even for one day, required a week of recovery time.

So she has decided to avoid early morning meetings and flights whenever possible.

She would not have this insight without keeping a journal and determining what her body needs to function at its optimal best.

Mary uses the Sleep Secret Audio to ensure that she gets a good night’s sleep and has the tools she needs to take power naps without waking up with that groggy, fuzzy, “where am I” feeling. By monitoring her fatigue levels as well as her moods, her ability to think clearly, and having the energy she needs to be her best through a ’sleep journal’, she discovered first hand how crucial it is to get a good night’s sleep and experience restorative rest.

Substanial Weight Gain From Too Little Sleep

I just came across this short, but informative article from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and wanted to share the information with you.

Did you know that regularly running short on sleep can easily make a child increase weight? Researchers found that in a look at data from the National Institutes of Health.

Julie Lumeng of the University of Michigan compared the amount of sleep kids got in the third grade with their weight in the sixth grade. Her study was in the journal Pediatrics.

“Children who were getting less sleep in the third grade were more likely to be overweight three years later in sixth grade, compared to the children who were getting more sleep.’”

Lumeng says that, for each added hour of sleep, the risk of overweight later falls about 40 percent. It’s another reason for kids to get enough sleep. And, Lumeng says, no TV in the bedroom – it makes it harder for the kid to go to sleep.

Something to think about. Your thoughts on this post?
